My journey to becoming a therapist began when I was 14 years old. I was feeling sad all the time and did not know why. I sought psychotherapy and began to feel much better. I decided that I wanted to help others in the same way that I had been helped.
Fast-forward to the present and I am now a fully Registered Psychotherapist in the province of Ontario (Registration # 003790). I have a double major Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theatre Studies from Dalhousie University. My Master’s degree is in Creative Arts Therapy with a specialization in Drama Therapy from Concordia University. In addition to my degrees I have certificates in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy.
When you come for a session with me, the therapy type that I use will depend greatly on the reason you are coming to see me. If you are simply looking for solutions and tools, I will use CBT. If you are looking for something a little deeper, I will use psychodyamic therapy, (looking at your past and seeing how it connects to your present) Drama Therapy, or a combination of both.
I work with adults, adolescents, and children. I have experience with a wide range of issues including (but not limited to) Anxiety, Depression, Abuse, Developmental Disorders, Trauma, Self-Esteem, Learning Disabilities, Self-Harm, Suicidal Ideation, and Grief.
My fees are based on a sliding scale, depending on one’s income. As a Registered Psychotherapist, my services are covered by some insurance plans, including some plans with Equitable Life, Green Shield, and Sun Life insurance providers.
